A B-Free Recovery-Zone for Addiction-Free Living!

The sit-in
Several months ago, I began seeing some shout-out posts on social media promoting a new recovery from addiction program in my area. I’d not heard of it before, but was familiar with the church hosting it–the same one I grew up in. I still have family and friends attending there.

Matthew & Becki Warren,
Facilitators
Intrigued, I contacted the facilitators, Matthew and Becki Warren, who agreed to let me sit in on a session and meet some of the participants. They get together Sunday mornings during Sunday School, and some of the participants stay afterward to attend the worship service.

I went and was surprised when I realized I’d met the facilitators a while back. My friend, Pastor James Freels, had been out of town during one of my previous visits. Matthew had preached the message that morning.

The meeting began, and in a short time, I was impressed with the gentle and confident engagement among the participants. Their mutual trust and respect was obvious. They not only discussed challenges, owned up to stumbles and celebrated each victory from the previous week, every one of them read journal entries from their course workbooks.

We all know not everyone likes to read, let alone write, but they’d done it. That alone put them on my gold star list.

By the Way... (pun intended!), did you know journaling’s actually good for you? As in improving both your mental and physical health? Yup! It’s true! Even if it’s just a line or two on a semi-regular basis. If you'd like to know how and why, click here, to get the info from one of my fairly-recent posts.

Back to the sit-in
I loved that I saw no superior or condescending attitudes displayed during the meeting. Everyone had a unique position, but all were on the same playing field with the same goal and working together to achieve a win for all of them.

They each shared aspects of their journey, some of which overlapped with the experiences of others and received supportive responses to those aspects of the discussion.

Honest, y’all... It was one of the best observance and interview sessions I’ve ever had the privilege to attend.

Particulars
The B-Free from Addiction program is a faith-based program, developed by Beth D. Baus. She holds a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology as well as a Master’s in Theological Studies. She’s also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with over two decades of experience.

The B-Free from Addiction website is robust with information. There, the facilitator and participant manuals available for purchase. However, for participants attending the program via the Apostolic Revival Church, in Southern Indiana (Gibson County) the workbook fee is waived

Post-party
The date for my sit-in happened to be on the same day the church was celebrating their Christmas 2025 dinner. I got to visit with one of the participants and both moderators during the meal.

Dominique Crumbaugh is a young mother in the program, and it's her first time to be in such a program. A young mother of a literal miracle child (maybe more on that later), she expressed enthusiasm about her experiences in the B-Free meetings, and how it's changing her life in wonderful ways.

She also expressed her appreciation for Warren and Becki, who help maintain accountability in setting and achieving goals.

“Everything I’m learning here, can be used in every aspect of my life.” Dominique

The church also has a comfortable coffee lounge available for those in need of more focused, private counsel.

Working and thriving!
The program is increasing in availability, and recognized by the courts in several U.S. states, as a viable recovery program with excellent success rates.

Getting involved
It’s easy!

If you, or someone you know, would like to provide support or participate in this program, please contact Matt Warren OTC.recovery@yahoo.com. The host church is the Apostolic Revival Church, located in Southern Gibson County, at 6144 S. 1075 W., Owensville, IN, 47665.

The wrap!
Thanks for visiting today and hoping you’ve found this information helpful and exciting! Please pass it along and share with whomever you know that may also find it helpful!

2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? Luke 24:2-5 KJV

I pray your Passover Weekend and Resurrection Sunday 2026 is saturated with blessings!

‘Til next time,

Shalom, shalom!
